What's new on Math Dept Computers?
This page will be used to post updates on new packages that have been
installed on the Math Department Unix computers. Unless otherwise
specified, packages listed here are available on hans.
Remote Computing (January 27)
Remaining x-terminal users should now be advised: large Maple
computations can run nearly twice as fast on the linux terminals than
they can directly on hans. To run Maple or any other application
remotely, ssh to the target linux terminal with the '-X' flag. On the
linux-terms 'xmaple' will call Maple 7 and 'xmaple8' will call Maple 8.
Please be respectful of other users while running programs remotely.
The two lab linux-terminals (4n11.math and 4n49) generally get only
moderate usage.
