Grades: Each of the three midterms
will account for
1/6th of your grade, the final will be 1/3rd of your grade, and
homework will account for the remaining 1/6th of your grade. The dates and times of the midterms are as follows:
Mid-term I: Wednesday, February 7, 5:00-5:50PM
Mid-term II: Wednesday, March 14, 5:00-5:50PM
Mid-term III: Wednesday, April 11, 5:00-5:50PM
The tentative date and time of the final is 12-2 on Thursday, May 3rd.
Homework: Homework will be due in my office by 5PM 6 days after it was assigned. For example I will gladly accept the first assigment (assigned on Thursday 1/11) during the Wednesday recitations on 1/17, though everyone will have until 5PM to get it to me. LATE HOMEWORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The only exceptions to these rule will be EXTREME circumstances such as serious illness / hospitalization or a family emergency. If you know ahead of time that you will not be available on Wednesday, either hand the homework to me ahead of time in my mailbox (either on my door or in the math office) or give the homework to a friend to hand in.
Each correct homework problem will earn five points, assuming that you show all your work, and a completeness score will be assigned out of five points. Thus in the average week with three multiple choice questions, your homework grade will be out of a possible 20 points. Your bottom homework score will be dropped in the calculation of your grade.
