Rules for the exam:
• No calculators allowed. One piece of paper is permitted, written on both sides if necessary. These notes must be handwritten, in your handwriting, no copies allowed.
• About half of the problems are multiple choice, half are free answer. Multiple choice problems need to show (correct) work for full credit.
Topics to be covered:
• Linear Algebra: 8.1-8.6 and 8.8, 8.10, 8.12
• Vector calculus: 9.7-9.16
• Differential Equations: 2.2, 2.3, 2.5, 3.1 (all subsections except boundary value problems), 3.3, 3.4, 3.6, 3.8.1, 3.8.2, 3.8.3, 10.1-10.3, 5.1, 5.2
Practice finals are available on the math department MAT 240 page. You should do at least the following problems:
• Fall 2005, Spring 2006 (except 4-6), Fall 06 (except 11,12), Spring 2007
Office hours the week before the exam:
• Tuesday: 1:30-3:00
• Wednesday: 2-3
• Thursday: 1:30-3:00
