First and foremost commendation should go to Dr. Y and his team members, for their dedication, perseverance and courage. Especially to Dr. Y, who has made immense personal sacrifice to serve the common good.
The assistance from Mr. F. L. was essential to the experiment. He provided important information on electric valves, as well as several pieces of critical parts for fabricating the instrument. The experiment would not have proceeded as quickly without his help and expertise. The high speed camera was made available to the experiment team through the help of Dr. C. L. it was critical for understanding the penetration process.
The experiment received expert help from many scientists. Dr. H. P. helped with anesthesia of animals. Consultations with Dr. D. C., Dr. M. T. and Dr. C. H. concerning burn injury and related medical information were very helpful; Dr. D. C. also provided mechanical and thermal properties of human skin. The assistance of Dr. K. L. was critical in studying fabrics. T. H. and Z. C. helped in studying heat transfer.
The author would like to thank Dr. N. W. and Dr. L. W. for sharing their expertise on the impact dynamics, and Dr. I. C. for guidance on shock waves and computational fluid dynamics.
