Math 241

Class:

MTWR 1:00-3:10 SAMPLE TEST 1 QUESTIONS and SAMPLE TEST 1 Solutions

Policy

I'm certainly no visionary when it comes to the course's material, but I don't want to sacrifice the bigger picture for the sake of merely pounding away at formulaic problems; therefore, the class will go through the regular syllabus for Math 241 (see the link below for the Math 241 homepage), but with a few exceptions. Homework will consist largely of the core problems (some of which I'll cut out) and partly of problems of my own. I won't collect homework, but you should do it nonetheless, and if you have any questions, you can see me during my office hours.

As far as grades are concerned: 6 quizzes will make up 20% of your grade, with your lowest score dropped. There will be NO MAKEUP QUIZZES-- if extenuating circumstances will make you miss a quiz, notify me in advance and we'll work something out. There will be 3 exams. For each, you are allowed one 8.5 x 11 cheat sheet (front and back, if you wish), but no calculator. Exam 1 is Thursday, July 17th ( SOLUTIONS HERE ). The other two exams are at the ends of the 4th and 6th weeks of class. The first test will be worth 25%, the second will be worth 25%, and the final (NOT cumulative) will be worth 30%.

Here are the first 6 assignments (1 per class). The first quiz will be on Wednesday, July 9th and will cover 12.1 and 12.2. The second quiz will be on Tuesday, July 15th. In weeks where there is no exam, there will be a quiz on Wednesday. During weeks where there is an exam, there will be a quiz on Tuesday.
