Math 623: Complex algebraic geometry.

TTh 3-4:30, 4C8

This is the second semester of the complex algebraic geometry course. The entire semester will be devoted to one very rich example: toric varieties. I will use it to illustrate a wide range of topics in algebraic geometry: curves, surfaces, hypersurfaces, various types of singularities and morphisms, line bundles, sheaves, cohomology, etc.

The text will be the new book Toric Varieties by Cox, Little and Schenck.

First meeting: Thursday, 1/12 at 3pm.
