My contact information is at the bottom of this page.

Professor Pantev's course webpage is here.

Office hours (in DRL 3N2A, near the mathematics library):

Mondays 2pm-3pm and Wednesdays 4pm-5pm.

Example proofs of det(A^t) = det A are here.

Homework policies/grading:

All homework is due in my mailbox in the mathematics department office (4W1) by 4pm on Fridays. I will grade a selection of the A and B problems (or all if it is a small assignment). Part of the goal of this course is to learn to communicate mathematics effectively. Therefore, unlike in most of the calculus courses, I am grading more than just your understanding; for problems that require proofs or are more than just computation, your explanations must be clear, logically sound, and easy to follow.

Laboratory policies/grading:

In every other lab session, students will present to the class the B problems. Each group will present a problem by sending one member to the blackboard (not always the same person) while the other members of the group will field questions from the audience as well as myself. Every member of the group will receive the same grade.

Part of your laboratory grade will also depend on you being attentive and asking questions in lab.

Grade breakdown

The lab is responsible for 40% of your total course grade. Half of that (20% of your total grade) will be from the homework assignments and the other half will be from participation.
