Recitations and Homeworks

Your participation in recitation is very important. Each week we'll talk about topics related to the material covered in class the week before. They will be posted on this website. You have to print the topics for the week and write a half page presentation on one of them. It may consist of a summary of the main concepts, a related example, some related information that was presented in class, anything that shows you have been thinking of the topic before coming to recitation.
During recitation we'll see presentations on those topics. You are encouraged to ask questions, share related information you've found while preparing for recitation. You will also have to rate other students' presentations and turn your evaluations in along with your half page presentation of your chosen topic. This will count towards your attendence to recitations.
Please make use of my office hours and go to Dr. Leidy's.

Presentations

Every students has to make a presentation at some point in the semester. You will be given materials and references to prepare your presentation. You can chose your own presentation format. You can use the blackboard, you can do a slide presentation, etc.
You should keep in mind that your presentation is evaluated on the following criteria:
- Are the key ideas of the chosen topic reflected by the presentation?
- Are the mathematical concepts well understood?
- Is the presentation well organized and easy to follow?
- Is the presentation well documented and provides supporting examples?
- Is the student able to answer topic related questions?
