How to remember sines and cosines of special angles — a table.

The Pennbook describes general policies every course at Penn. I would particularly draw your attention to the sections on academic integrity(cheating), secular and religious holidays, and students with disabilities — these are most applicable to the midterms and final exam. The dates and times of the exams are already posted, so if you need to miss one due to observance of a holiday, you must let us know within the first two weeks of school.

Your final numerical grade will be computed as

  • 1/6 homework
  • 1/6 each midterm
  • 1/3 final exam.
At the end of the course, a curve will be fixed and used to assign a final letter grade.

You are required to turn in your solutions to the weekly multiple-choice questions to my mailbox (located in the mathematics office, DRL 4W1). These are due by 5pm exactly one week after they are assigned. Late assignments will not be accepted for any reason — since the office is locked at 5pm, you will not even be able to turn in late work. Due dates may only be changed for individuals with religious obligations, as outlined in the Pennbook.

The book problems are for your own edification and will be returned ungraded if handed in. A list of questions and problems, along with due dates appears at the end of this page. You are encouraged to help each other with the homework problems but you are required to write your own solutions for the multiple-choice problems.

Grading manifesto — each multiple choice problem will be graded out of one on the following scale:

  • 0 - No answer, incorrect answer, or correct answer with incorrect work or no work shown
  • 1 - Correct answer with all work shown
