Math. Dept. Undergraduate Program Information

The course: Math 141 -- Calculus for the Natural Sciences, II: Math 141 is the second semester of a first-year course in calculus for students who desire an emphasis on applications to physics and engineering, and who might later decide to take second-year calculus. Others should consider Math 151, which has more emphasis on to pics related to economics and biology, as well as covering non-calculus topics such as probability.

Lectures, MWF 11-12 DRL A1. Recitations, one hour per week (see above).

Texts


Homework: Weekly problem sets, due to TA by Friday at noon, handed in individually. Lowest one dropped. Problem sets will be available on the World Wide Web Home Page the previous week. Additional projects using Maple, due to TA, and submitted individually or in groups.

Quizzes: At the end of many recitations, on the material discussed that week in recitation. Lowest one dropped.


Exams: Three in-class exams, and a final exam after the end of classes.
