Exams
The midterm exam took place on July 13. The exam problems and the exam solutions are available. Each problem was graded out of 10 points. The median grade was a 59 out of 80, the mean a 53. Roughly speaking, grades of 64 or above correspond to some sort of A, grades between 48 and 63 to some sort of B, between 32 and 47 to some sort of C, and below 32 to a D or F. This information is only to give you an idea where you stand, though; the final letter grades will only be assigned at the end of the course. Also, the grade cutoffs on the final exam may be higher or lower than on this exam, depending on the level of difficulty.
The final exam took place on August 3. There were eight problems; each problem was graded out of ten points. The median grade was a 51 out of 80, the mean also was 51. Roughly speaking, grades of 57 or above correspond to some sort of A, grades between 47 and 56 to some sort of B, between 37 and 46 to some sort of C, and below 37 to a D or F.
Final grades
The grades have been sent to the Registrar. Please note that all grades are final.
