JIM HAGLUND

I am an Associate Professor here in the Math Department at Penn. I am co-organizer (with Robin Pemantle) of the Combinatorics and Probability seminar (Tuesdays from 4-5pm), and also co-organizer (with Angela Gibney) of the new Combinatorial Algebraic Geometry seminar (Thursdays from 2-3pm). My research interests are in algebraic and enumerative combinatorics. In particular, I work on problems involving symmetric functions and Macdonald polynomials, combinatorial statistics and q-analogs, rook polynomials, and polynomials arising from combinatorics having only real zeros. I like experimental mathematics, and often use computer algebra packages such as Maple in my research, to develop and test conjectures.
