JIM HAGLUND

I am an Associate Professor here in the Math Department at Penn. I am co-organizer (with Robin Pemantle) of the Combinatorics and Probability seminar (Tuesdays from 4-5pm in DRL 4N30), and also co-organizer (with Linda Chen of Swarthmore College and Jennifer Morse of Drexel University) of the Philadelphia CAGE (Combinatorics and Algebraic Geometry) seminar (Thursdays from 4:00-5:00pm in DRL 4N30). My research interests are in algebraic and enumerative combinatorics. In particular, I work on problems involving symmetric functions and Macdonald polynomials, combinatorial statistics and q-analogs, rook polynomials, and am also interested in the zeros of polynomials and analytic functions. I like experimental mathematics, and often use computer algebra packages such as Maple in my research, to develop and test conjectures.
