All Math 114 classes use a mathematical software
package called Maple, and you will need access to
the web.

Homework and Quizzes: There will be recommended homework assignments, consisting of the "core" problems, which you will not turn in, and weekly quizzes in your recitation section, consisting of problems from or similar to the homework. There will also be some online homework assignments using the MyLab system. Your TA will provide you with details about the quizzes. The homework assignments will be listed at the bottom of this webpage. Quizzes and MyLab hw assignments account for 10% of your grade.
Midterm exams There will be two midterm exams. The first counts 20% of your grade, and the second counts 30%. The midterms will be given during our normal lecture time, Wednesday Oct. 12 from 11:00-11:50am in DRLB A2 and Wednesday Nov. 16, also from 11:00-11:50am in DRLB A2. .
Midterm 1: Wednesday, October 12, from 11:00-11:50am in DRL A2
Midterm 1 Covers sections 9.4, 9.5, 12.1-12.6, 11.6, 13.1-13.4
You may use one (one-sided, handwritten) 8.5 x 11 sheet of notes. No calculators, cell phones, etc. are allowed. There are no Maple problems on the Midterm exam.Midterm 2: Wednesday, November 16, 11-11:50am in DRL A2
Midterm 2 Covers sections 13.5-13.6, 14.1-14.8, 15.1-15.4, 11.3
You may use one (one-sided, handwritten) 8.5 x 11 sheet of notes. No calculators, cell phones, etc. are allowed. There are no Maple problems on the Midterm exam.Review for Midterm 2: Tuesday, Nov. 15 from 7-8:30pm in DRL A1
Final exam: The comprehensive final exam is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011 from 9:00-11:00am in Huntsman Hall, G-60. It is a common exam with the other 114 sections. It will count for 40% of your grade. You may use one (two-sided, handwritten) 8.5 x 11 sheet of notes. No calculators, cell phones, etc. are allowed. There are no Maple problems on the final exam.
