Text: Stewart, James, Calculus, 6th Ed. Mathematics 103/104/114/115 Calculus/Maple Lab Manual. We will cover sections 10.1-10.6 (Ordinary Differential Equations and Modeling), 13.1-13.6, 11.5 (Vectors and the Geometry of Space) 14.1-14.4 (Vector Functions) 15.1-15.8 (Partial Derivatives) 16.1-16.9, 11.3, 11.4 (Multiple Integrals) 17.1-17.4 (Vector Calculus and Line Integrals)
All Math 114 classes use a mathematical software package called Maple, and you will need access to the web. More information about the course, old exams, and an online version of the Maple/Calculs Lab Manual can be found on the math departments' Math 114 web page http://www.math.upenn.edu/ugrad/calc/m114/

Homework and Quizzes: There will be recommended homework assignments, which you will not turn in, and weekly quizzes in your recitation section, consisting of problems from or similar to the homework. Your TA will provide you with details about the quizzes. The homework assignments will be listed at the bottom of this webpage. Quizzes account for 15% of your grade.

Midterm exams There will be two midterm exams. The first counts 20% of your grade, and the second counts 30%. The midterms are common exams - all sections of Math 114 take the same exam at the same time.

Midterm 1: Wednesday, October 14, 7pm-8:30pm, in ANNS 110

Midterm 1 Covers sections 10.5, 10.6, 13.1-13.6, 11.5, 14.1,14.2, 14.4 (Motion in space: velocity and acceleration)

Practice Midterm 1 with solutions

Solutions to Midterm 1

Midterm 2: Wednesday, November 18, 7pm-8:30pm, in ANNS 110

Midterm 2 Covers sections 14.3, 15.1-15.8, 16.1-16.4.

Practice Midterm 2 with solutions

There is a reveiw session for midterm 2 (run by Professor Pantev) on Monday, Nov. 16 from 7-9pm in DRL A2

For the midterms, you may use two sides of an 8.5 x 11 standard size sheet of (handwritten) notes. No calculators, cell phones, etc. are allowed. There are no Maple problems on the midterm exams.

Final exam: The comprehensive final exam is scheduled for Monday, December 21 from 9am-11am in LRSM/Aud. It is a common exam with the other 114 sections. It will count for 35% of your grade. You may use one (two-sided, handwritten) 8.5 x 11 sheet of notes. No calculators, cell phones, etc. are allowed. There are no Maple problems on the final exam.
