Course Description:
Functions of several variables, vector-valued functions, partial derivatives and applications, double and triple integrals, conic sections, polar coordinates, vectors and analytic geometry, first and second order ordinary differential equations. Applications to physical sciences. Use of symbolic manipulation and graphics software in Calculus. The math department course webpage has a more detailed description, as well as practice final exams from previous years.
Homework:
Although you will not be graded for the homework, it is practically impossible to do well in the course without working out the homework assignments regularly. You are encouraged to work together on the assignments.
Grading:
Quizzes: 15%
Three midterms: 3*15=45%
- Exam 1: February 18th (in class)
- Exam 2: March 25th (in class)
- Exam 3: April 24th (in class)
Final: 40%
- Final Exam: May 7th 12-2pm (location to be determined)
Quizzes: There will be weekly quizzes during the recitations. No make up quizzes will be allowed, but two lowest quiz scores will be dropped in the end.
Exams:
You are allowed to bring a "cheat sheet" to the exams, a regular size sheet of paper with handwritten formulas on both sides. No calculators are permitted on the exams. Practice exams will be provided which you can downlord from Blackboard.
