Why I have a fancy webpage....
I'm a fifth year graduate student in mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania. I no longer have to take classes (hence the title above) and the only thing standing in the way of my friends addressing me as "Dr Kerin" is the trivial matter of a dissertation. I am currently under the supervision of Wolfgang Ziller , who, for some reason, agreed to take me on as his student. I spent almost 3 months this summer at IMPA in Rio de Janeiro, as well as 3 months the previous summer when Wolfgang was there on sabbatical. Not a bad way to get some work done during the summer, if I say so myself. The fact that I was able to take up surfing while there is just an added bonus.
Research:
As my friend Dan Jane at Cambridge says, I'm a geomancer. The more common term is "geometer". My interests lie in the general area of non-negative and positive sectional curvature. More specifically, I am interested in manifolds which admit metrics of quasi-positive or almost positive curvature, Lie group actions, and biquotients.

Not Research: I'm the guy who is constantly drinking tea and wandering the halls of DRL chatting to (distracting) other grad students. My office is also something of a gathering place for those wishing to slack off, so feel free to drop by.
