I'm a sixth year PhD candidate at the University of Pennsylvania in the Mathematics department. I graduated with a BA in math from Haverford college in 2009. My research interests are in the fields of number theory and algebraic and arithmetic geometry.

My thesis topic, advised by Ted Chinburg, involves generalizing work of Sharifi on the Galois module structure of the principal units of a p-adic local field to other formal groups besides the multiplicative group. Of particular interest is the case where the formal group comes from a CM elliptic curve.

The picture on the right is from Miles Reid's fantastic book Undergraduate Commutative Algebra. It shows the natural map from Spec Z[X] to Spec Z induced by the inclusion Z↪Z[X]. Drawing such pictures is part of what drew me to arithmetic geometry.
