Point set topology: metric spaces and topological spaces, compactness, connectedness, continuity, extension theorems, separation axioms, quotient spaces, topologies on function spaces, Tychonoff theorem. Fundamental groups and covering spaces, and related topics.Homework
Homework is an extremely important part of this course. You must turn in the problems individually. Extra credit problems will be available (sometimes). For practice problems and the homework problems see the BlackBoard website. See the course Schedule for the due dates.Exams
There will be one take-home midterm and the cumulative final exam.
Mid-term: Week 8 of classes
Final exam: Assigned in week 14Grade
The formula used to determine the final grade is as follows:
midterm: 30%
final: 40%
homework: 30%
