General Rules

The ground rules governing this class are posted on Pr. Powers' Math 115 webpage
Also, valuable information including the syllabus and old exams can be found on the general Math 115 webpage

There are going to be four midterm exams and a final. They are scheduled as follows:
Midterm I : September 27th
Midterm II : October 18th
Solutions to Midterms I and II
Midterm III : November 8
Solutions to Midterm III
Midterm IV : November 29th
Solutions to Midterm IV
Final Exam : December 12, 9-11 am, LRSM Aud

Your final course grade will be based solely on your performance on the midterms and final, 66% from the midterms and 34% from the final. You are not required to hand in your homework. Nonetheless, your performance on the exams is determined by your performance on the homework since the exam problems will be based on and very similar to homework problems. Therefore it is vital that you do and understand the homework assignments.

In recitation, we will concentrate on working through homework problems. You should give them a try before coming to recitation. I will try to cover problems from all of the key theories in the course, but I will not have time to review all of them, so I highly suggest that you take advantage of my office hours, Penn tutors (tutors for Math 114 should be able to help you too), and the Sunday review sessions.

Homework

The homework is posted on Pr. Powers' Math 115 webpage
I will try to help you develop a reasonable homework schedule by breaking down week by week which homework should be done and which subjects we will review in recitation:
By September 14
By September 21
By October 5
By October 19
By October 26
By November 2
By November 16
By November 23
By December 7

Before doing the homework problems, I suggest that you read the corresponding chapters and try to do some of the simpler beginning problems in the Exercises section at the end of each chapter in addition to the assigned homework.
If you have any suggestions about how to improve the website so that there are more resources to help you succeed in this class, please do not hesitate to send me an email.

Getting Help
