Announcements concerning the final exam and week of April 29-May 9

The final exam will be on Friday, May 9 from 9-11 am in DRL A2.
I will not be available for office hours from April 29-May 6. I will hold 2 makeup office hour sessions on:
Monday, April 28, 5-7 pm
Wednesday, May 7, 2-6 pm.
Professor Storm will also give extra office hours before the final, so please consult her website for the times.

The final will be comprehensive. You should be able to do all questions from all old final exams except the ones listed in this list .
You will be taking a common final with the Math 115 section taught by Prof. Powers. Please have a look at the midterms from the other section of Math 115 and also at last semester's midterms . This is a BIG HINT. The final will be more or less based on these.

I will not be holding recitation on April 29. There will be a makeup recitation section for both the 8:30-9:30 and the 9:30-10:30 classes on Monday, April 28 from 7-8 pm in DRL 4N9. There will be no quiz. If you cannot make this time, please email me and I will schedule a time to meet with you one on one for questions about material covered in the last week of class, specifically Markov Chains and Input/Output models.
There will be Sunday reviews on April 29th and on May 4th.

General Rules

The ground rules governing this class are posted on Pr. E. Storm's Math 115 webpage
Also, valuable information including the syllabus and old exams can be found on the general Math 115 webpage

There are going to be two midterm exams and a final. The midterms are held during class (1-2 pm) in the classroom (DRL A1). They are tentatively scheduled as follows:
Midterm I : February 18th
Midterm II : March 31th
Final Exam : May 9, 9-11 am

Your final course grade will be based on weekly quizzes in recitation, the midterms and final. We calculate your grade with the following weight:
Quizzes - 15%
Midterm 1 - 25%
Midterm 2 - 25%
Final Exam - 35%.

Homework and Quizzes

Your weekly homework is posted on Pr. E. Storm's Math 115 webpage . My homework set includes core problems, the professor's assignment and corresponding final exam problems. You are not required to hand it in. The quizzes will be based on homework from the previous week. I indicated by what date you should finish which will be a Monday. The quizzes the following Tuesday and Thursday will be based on that.

In recitation, we will concentrate on working through old final exam problems. You should give them a try before coming to recitation. I will try to cover problems from all of the key theories in the course, but I will not have time to review all of them, so I highly suggest that you take advantage of the help listed below.

Getting Help

(1) Make use of my office hours and go to Pr. Storm's.
(2) Go to the Sunday Reviews held each Sunday night from 7pm to 9pm in DRL A4.
(3) Attend Math Centers and On-line Help Sessions.
(4) Attend the Math 115 workshops led by an undergraduate TA, Tuesdays, 6:30-9:30 pm in DRL 4E9.
Here you can find the complete help schedule including times and rooms for the Math Centers.
If you would like a private tutor, there are two options. The math department has a list of department approved tutors for hire. You may also request university tutors.
