    Contact Information:

  • Email: shanshand [at] math [dot] upenn [dot] edu
  • Office: DRL 4C11
  • Office Hours: Wednesday 5:30-6:30pm & Friday 1:30-2:30pm
  • Homework Policies:

Homework is assigned weekly and to be submitted either in lecture on Thursdays or to my mailbox by 5pm on Fridays. Late homework is not generally accepted. Write legibly and in complete sentences. Also, please staple!

Note on collaborations: You are encouraged to work together, but you must write up your own solutions in your own words. Please list all collaborators in your write-up. Doing so will not negatively affect either your grade or my perception of your intelligence. In fact, the more you adhere to this, the more lenient I will be in determining what constitutes cheating.

    Selected solutions:
  • Homework 6, question 5(b)
  • Homework 6, question 6(b)
  • Participation:

Participation during labs will be a factor in your final grade. After all, one emphasis of the course is effective mathematical communication. I expect regular attendance--please let me know in advance if you have to miss a lab--and an effort to speak up. Don't be shy! No question is stupid, and every response contains some insight. I would like for the atmosphere to be as interactive as possible. If I'm the only one speaking, then it'd be boring!
