Wondering what this spaghetti-like thing is? - Well, it's a quaternion julia fractal. We wrote a program to explore such fractals in 4 dimensions...
Hi everyone. On the left picture you can see me together with Tux. The picture on the right shows a crazy mathematician (who happens to be me, too).

I have just earned my diploma in mathematics at the University of Heidelberg in the research group of B. Heinrich Matzat. Since fall 2005 I am a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania. My mathematical interests mainly focus around algebraic geometry (yep, this is a quite broad area) and I wrote my diploma thesis in differential Galois theory. You can learn algebraic geometry online on this site.

I do mathematics in order to get rich by solving some of the Millenium Problems (I am not yet sure which ones, but the Riemann Hypothesis or the Hodge Conjecture sound interesting). After having done that, I will stop doing math and cruise around with my Bugatti Veyron 16.4--->

Ok, I admit there's also a minimal motivation in doing math because it's fun :-).

I like biking and crossed the Alps with some friends. Here are some photos of this trip.

My favourite operating system is GNU/ Linux (as you probably guessed after looking at the above photo) and I am a fan of the distribution. Learn about the philosophy of free software from its pioneer RMS.
