Shorter Modules

These modules have been extracted from or are embellishments upon materials used in MACMATC courses.

• Velocity -- exploration of velocity and derivative as limit of difference quotients, suitable for beginning calculus students.
• Exponential Function modules
  • Population growth module (consequences of unrestrained exponential growth)
  • Compound interest module (an aspect of Benjamin Franklin's legacy to Philadelphia and Boston)
• Relative motion -- explore effects of changing point of view for motion of several objects. Activities suitable for precalculus/beginning calculus, Calculus II (parametric equations in the plane), more advanced students (use of rotation of axes and/or rotation matrices).
• The Mercator map -- construction of the map by trig, calculus and differential geometry, answers the burning question: "Why integrate sec(x)"?
