The explicit computation of modular forms has been around since the beginning of the theory. In the first part of this talk, we'll discuss how (classical) modular forms are explicitly computed and various problems in which such computations have played an important role. In the second part of the talk, we'll introduce Siegel modular forms, discuss how they are explicitly computed and highlight several recent applications.
