Aspects of N=2 supersymmetric theories in D=4 involve a beautiful interplay between physics and mathematics. In particular, the spectrum of BPS states on the Coulomb branch of such theories is a subtle invariant which relates many seemingly disparate problems in algebraic geometry. I will review some recent work with Mario Martone and Andrew Neitzke on the subject.
