Motivated by recent studies of nonlocal continuum mechanics, we present several forms of nonlocal relaxations to a few local models and discuss their properties and numerical simulations. We use some examples to show that special forms of nonlocal interactions can play important roles in eliminating undesirable modeling artifacts. We also discuss practical implications of our findings.
