In this lecture I will present the phenomenon of transfer of energy with respect to a smooth global in time solution for the 2D periodic NLS.

This is a feature often also called forward cascade and it is link to the weak turbulence theory. We will see that as far as we can understand now the rationality or irrationality related to the two periods of the solution will play a role. Part of this lecture is on joint work with B. Wilson.
