Friday, February 9, 2018 - 11:00am

Pavel Safronov

U Zurich

Location

University of Pennsylvania

DRL 4E19

Please note the rescheduled time and room. (The originally scheduled talk had to be moved as the University is closed on 2/8/18 due to the Eagles' parade.)

Geometric quantization of symplectic manifolds allows one to pass from classical mechanical systems to quantum mechanical systems. Shifted or derived symplectic spaces naturally appear when one generalizes the symplectic approach to classical mechanics to higher-dimensional topological field theories. In this talk I will explain what higher geometric quantization is and give some examples. In particular, I will relate the quantum BV formalism to (-1)-shifted geometric quantization.
