The non Abelian Higgs mechanism, introduced by Kibble in 1967, turns out to be a key tool in understanding the geometry of symplectic leaves for symplectic singularities which are constructed as Hyper Kahler quotients. Many symplectic singularities are constructed as 3d N=4 Coulomb branches. For such cases there is a simple combinatorial algorithm to compute the symplectic leaves.
