The College of Liberal and Professional Studies and the Department of Mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time lecturer starting in Academic Year 2020-21. The appointment will be for an initial year with the possibility of annual renewal for an additional two years, contingent upon a satisfactory performance review and approval of the Dean. The main responsibilities will be teaching undergraduate mathematics lectures, development and delivery of online mathematical science courses and review modules in support of the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree, and assisting general undergraduate mathematics instruction and curriculum development. This lecturer will have a 2-2-2 course load across a 12-month period, teaching and/or developing a total of 4 online mathematical science courses for the BAAS program and teaching 2 residential undergraduate Mathematics courses for the Mathematics department. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field, a strong interest and demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching and curriculum development, and outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Mathematics or closely related field, a strong interest and demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching and curriculum development and interest in the realm of professional continuing education. Previous teaching experience is required; experience and/or interest in online teaching and previous administrative experience are preferred. The successful candidate will possess outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills.
