The William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition is administered by the Mathematical Association of America . Held the first Saturday in December, the exam is designed to test originality and technical competence in formal theories from various disciplines of undergraduate mathematics. This year's (2016) Putnam competition will be held on Saturday, December 3th, from 10am to 6pm, with a two hour break in between.
Weekly problem solving session will be held at various times -- check the Putnam Problem solving seminar blog for updates. In order to participate in the competition you need to sign up with Robin Toney in DRL 4W1 -- the undergraduate math office. The deadline for signing up is September 29. If you missed it spots might still be available, please sign-up before November 17. NOTE! If you signed up, but will not be able to attend the actual competition, please let us know and sign-off. We are only allowed to substitute names, but not add anymore contestants at this point.
