# MATH361, Fall 2006

## Advanced Calculus

The course Math361 Advanced Calculus is a continuation of Math360.

Prerequisite: Math360, Math240

Topics to cover:

- Functions of several variables: differentiability, Taylor decomposition, general facts.
- Introduction to smooth manifolds
- Local behavior, extremal points, conditional extremum.
- Integration of functions
- Fourier series.

Textbook: Elementary Classical Analysis by Marsden and Hoffman, chapters 6-10.
Homeworks: To appear here every second week, normally priced 25 points for a full solution.

Midterm and Endterm exams: In class work, priced doubly comparing with a homework.

Final score: Depends on the sum of points earned by homeworks, mid- and endterm exams.

First class: Thursday, 09.07.06, at 10:30 am in 4C4, DRL.
