Marcus Michelen

Math PhD Student

I'm a fifth year PhD candidate in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Engineering at The Cooper Union in 2014, where I majored in Interdisciplinary Engineering and minored in Mathematics.

I will be completing my degree in Spring 2019 and will be applying for jobs in the Fall.

My primary subject interest is probability, and my advisor is Robin Pemantle. Most recently, I have been studying percolation on random trees as well as the distribution of coefficients of polynomials based on the location of their roots. More broadly, I am interested in (mostly) discrete probability and analytic combinatorics.
