About Me

I'm an NSF Graduate Research Fellow and Calabi Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania under the advisement of Jim Haglund. I graduated from the University of Southern California in 2016 and grew up in Manhattan, Kansas. My hometown calls itself the Little Apple.

My primary research interests are in algebraic combinatorics. I like thinking about positivity questions, statistics and combinatorics on tableaux, and more recently, crystals. My plans for the future include making this list longer.

I am also passionate about using effective communication and education to improve public perception of mathematics. For a long time, I didn't think of math as something that could be enjoyed on its own, let alone that people could or should study and make a career out of it. I am grateful to now have a chance to pursue such a career and to be in a position to help others discover a deeper appreciation of mathematics.

Outside of math, I typically split my time between books, video games, board games, and climbing. I also enjoy collecting new experiences and will try (almost) anything once.
