We will discuss a classification of compact Alexandrov spaces whose volume is (relatively) maximal under certain constraint. These results can be viewed as a natural extension of Grove and Petersen's work in Riemannian geometry. A basic tool for this classification is a pointed version of the Bishop-Gromov relative volume comparison with rigidity.
