The cut locus was firstly defined by Poincare, and there are many results about cut locus in reimannian geometry. We will review some of them and mentioned the recent results on ellipsoid in general dimension, which is related to Jacobi´s last geometric statement. We will discuss about several applications of cut locus, for example, continuous flattening of convex polyhedra by using cut locus.
