Donaldson-Thomas invariants are counts of sheaves and complexes on Calabi-Yau threefolds, which feature prominently in enumerative geometry and string theory. In this talk, we will explain a canonical blowup procedure for stacks in derived algebraic geometry, which in particular applies to moduli stacks that arise in Donaldson-Thomas theory. Using their derived symplectic structure, we get a new, derived perspective that allows us to construct intersection-theoretic generalized Donaldson-Thomas invariants. Based on joint work with Jeroen Hekking and David Rydh.
