Factorization algebras are sheaf-like tools that capture algebraic information, such as homology theories and associative algebras. For this talk I'll focus on some examples that come from free field theories, in particular the beta-gamma and Kac-Moody factorization algebra. If there's time, we will talk about how these factorization algebras can recover classic examples of vertex algebras.
