I will describe recent work with Jeffres and Rubinstein which resolves some old conjectures, due to Tian and to Donaldson, concerning the existence of KE metrics with a singularity along a general SNC divisor satisfying appropriate cohomological conditions. Included in this work is a new continuity method for the Monge-Ampere equation and several new results about the underlying linear elliptic theory.
