There is a deep correspondence between the geometry of phase transitions— solutions to the Allen—Can equation— and minimal hypersurfaces. In this talk I will discuss recent joint work with Jared Marx-Kuo relating the level set geometry of phase transitions to that of minimal hypersurfaces. I will also discuss some recent progress on variational problems for minimal hypersurfaces and phase transitions with prescribed topology.
