Classically, linearly reductive groups are an interesting and well-known topic in invariant theory over fields. The ring of invariants under the action of a linearly reductive group usually has rich properties. I will define the notion of linear reductivity over rings and study properties of the ring of invariants. I will also compare linear reductivity with other notions of reductivity.
