We discuss two conjectures concerning neck pinches in Ricci flow and mean curvature flow: 1) the topology of the manifold or hypersurfaces strongly affects the rate of singularity development in neckpinches; 2) the behavior of rotationally symmetric neckpinches is an attractor for nearly rotationally symmetric ones, as well as those with convex deformations.
