We will discuss a conjecture of Petrunin and Lott that a spin manifold with nonzero $A$-hat genus can not collapse with sectional curvature bounded below and diameter bounded above. We prove this conjecture in dimension 4 for simply connected manifolds with A-hat larger than 2.
