The modern Representation Theory differs essentially from that of the last century. Nevertheless some classical problems remain open. One of them is the description of the unitary dual, i.e. the set of al unitary irreducible representations (unirreps for short) of Lie groups. I want to discus the new promising results, based on the orbit method and the simultaneous consideration of algebraic groups over different fields. I shall briefly explain, what is the orbit method and how it works for the group of unitriangular matrices over a finite field.
