We will discuss a few problems in the geometry of surfaces in normed spaces. The questions may look elementary and even naive but in reality they prove to be rather hard and intriguing. We will be particularly interested in ellipticity of the most natural surface area functionals and intrinsic geometry of surfaces in normed spaces.
