I will describe recent developments in Schubert calculus and the Brill-Noether theory of special divisors on curves. I will give new K-theoretic formulas for degeneracy loci of morphisms between vector bundles which yield formulas for K-classes of Brill-Noether loci in terms of set-valued tableaux. These recover the formulas of Eisenbud-Harris, Pirola and Chan-López-Pflueger-Teixidor in dimension one. I will also discuss the connection to tableau formulas of Billey-Jockusch-Stanley, Matsumura, and others. This is joint work with Dave Anderson and Nicola Tarasca.
