Vector bundles are basic objects in algebraic geometry. The key concept required for creating moduli spaces parametrizing bundles on a given space is that of a stable vector bundle. We will illustrate this concept, state some of the fundamental results, and work out some concrete examples of moduli spaces of stable (and semistable) bundles.
