  • The Francis J. Carey Term Chairs in Mathematics

    Wm. Polk Carey, W'53, established the Francis J. Carey Term Professorship in Mathematics in 1985 to honor his brother, Francis (Frank) Carey, C'45, G'47, L'49, an undergraduate math major. A supporter of Penn for 30 years, Wm. Polk Carey is chairman of the board, director, and founder of W. P. Carey & Co., Inc., the largest company specializing in net leasing of corporate real estate in the U.S. The Carey family has a long history of supporting education, with particular emphasis on the College. Francis (Frank) Carey holds the position of Chair and Chief Executive Officer at W.P. Carey. Frank Carey served on the School of Arts and Sciences Board of Overseers from 1984 to 1990. Francis J. Carey III graduated from the College in 1973.
