WE RECOMMEND MASKS TO BE WORN DURING THESE EXAMS

You must provide your Penn ID to take the exams.  Students are advised to arrive 10 minutes early.

To help incoming students begin their study of Mathematics at Penn in the course which is right for them, the Math Department offers credit exams each semester. Students who take a credit exam and demonstrate very high levels of proficiency can receive credit for the corresponding course. Note that the standard for passing the credit exam is not determined until after the exam is given, but will be substantially higher than the pass/fail standard encountered when taking the course. Credit exams are available to any student in their first, second, or third semester at Penn at the time of the exam. Students in their fourth or later semester require prior permission from the Mathematics Department Undergraduate Chair before taking a credit exam. Credit exams are available in person only.

For those who pass, the results of the placement exams will be posted to your transcripts by the Registrar once the Math Dept has verified and completed processing the results. Please allow 3 weeks from the second exam date for your credits to be posted. Students who pass the credit exam will be informed within 2-3 days of the first exam date. Makeup exam results will be graded and reported to students by their Fall course professor and could take longer.  We advise students to use our old final exams posted on our "Undergraduate Webpage" to prepare for the exam (www.math.upenn.edu)

Students registered with SDS will take their makeup or credit exams with the Students Disabilities Office in  room TBA on date TBA  (based on SDS time allowance). Here is the link to register sds-test@vpul.upenn.edu in the Fall.

Postponed Makeup Exam Takers:  IF YOU HAVE A CONFLICT WITH THE  EXAM DATE LISTED CONTACT YOUR SPRING INSTRUCTOR ASAP TO MAKE ALTERNATE ARRANGEMENTS.

Note: If you did not take a final exam and received an "incomplete" grade from the previous semester for any math course, you should contact your course professor and register below in the Fall.
