Full Solutions to problems from Spring 2011 makeup
Note: File updated recently. See problem 11.
For problem 11, take absolute value of jacobian to convert from dxdy to dudv.
You can convert it in two ways, (you should get the same answer) :
dxdy = |del(x,y)/del(u,v)| dudv
dudv= |del(u,v)/del(x,y)| dxdy, (So dxdy =dudv/|del(u,v)/del(x,y)|)
The book uses the first, I use the second method.
For the first method you need to solve for x, y as functions of u,v.
In the second method, the Jacobian appears in the denominator instead of numerator.
